  • Perform High-performance Liquid Chromatography purification of secondary metabolites produced by marine sediment-derived actinobacteria, specifically the Streptomyces genus, for antibiotic and anticancer applications
  • Perform chemical characterization of the isolated pure compounds from the secondary metabolites produced by marine sediment-derived actinobacteria, specifically the Streptomyces genus, using a 600-MHz Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy, and low- and high-resolution mass spectrometry

  • Developed an image processing and dispersion compensation pipeline in MATLAB to provide the functionality to a custom-made spectral-domain Optical Coherence Microscoope (SD-OCM) system to elucidate the effects of biochemical inhibitors on intracellular motility, an indicator of the physiological characteristics of biological organisms
  • Prepared both free-edged and confined human mesenchymal stem cell cultures, Madin-Darby canine kidney cell cultures, and cardiac fibroblast cell cultures
  • Performed cell-culture imaging using the custom-made SD-OCM system
  • Assisted in preparing and writing up the results of this project for publication in a peer-reviewed journal
